50Th Anniversary

Post by SR9 » Tue Jul 23, 2019 4:08 pm

I am sure there a few of us that remember the date July 20, 1969 very well. Some were serving our country in Vietnam (thank you all) and some of us watched history made that day as the US landed the first astronauts on the moon. It is hard to believe it was 50 years ago last Saturday the lunar module Eagle touched down in the Sea of Tranquility on the moon.

I watched every minute of TV coverage that my parents would allow. Got shooed out of the house to go play a few times. That day cemented my interest in aviation and space. In any case tomorrow will mark 50 years since the successful completion of the Apollo 11 mission.

Anyone else have a recollection of that event?

There heads as far as what they would see ,or what it felt like knowing you were the first human to ever walk on the moon ,,,,,,blows my mind !

Well, I was almost 13 at the time so I remember it well. Every time I think about it I cannot believe it was 50 years ago.

Nice Sherrie! Happy belated birthday! Some days I wish I were not old enough to remember July 11, 1969. :)
