I am thinking of buying a Ruger No. 1 in 30-06. However, I have heard these rifles are quite finnicky as to the ammo they like. I have been told they like hand loads but I would like to shoot factory ammo. Has anyone had any experience with these guns?
Thanks for any advice!

No, I have never handled one of the No. 1's, but it seems odd that any production rifle would have issues with standard-spec ammo.
Perhaps a short cartridge load with something like the Speer Varminter 110gr JHP might be finnicky to feed, but I doubt you'd ever find this as a factory load anyways.
You're welcome to test-fire various '06 loads up here, if you do end up with that No.1.
Good luck!
